About Us
ODAYA is a specialty Japanese tea and dessert brand, dedicated to providing high-quality matcha drinks, desserts, and authentic Japanese dining experiences. We are expanding our operations and looking for an experienced Central Kitchen Manager to join our passionate team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily Central Kitchen operations to ensure a smooth, efficient workflow.
- Plan and manage central kitchen production to ensure accurate, reliable production of desserts and confectioneries while consistently upholding Odaya’s quality standards.
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and company operational standards.
- Oversee recipe research and development.
- Manage staff rosters, shift planning, and performance evaluation.
- Oversee/Handle inventory management, ordering, and stock control.
- Monitor kitchen performance (production accuracy, efficiency, wastage) and implement improvements.
- Address and resolve kitchen staff issues professionally.
- Oversee kitchen staff training.
- Communicate and cooperate effectively with retail, marketing, head office and other departments.
- Report directly to senior management and contribute ideas for production improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant managerial or supervisory experience in central kitchen, bakery or patisserie operations.
- Australian resident or citizen with legal working rights preferred.
- Visa sponsorship will be considered for exceptional applicants.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken); additional language skills (Japanese, Mandarin, Korean etc) advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience in staff training and performance management.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with relevant POS and inventory management systems, basic financial reporting and office software systems.
- Flexibility to work on weekends, public holidays, and evenings as required.
