last winter/summer seasons were pretty much hectic due to bushfires/drought. And this year, we are in the middle of the worst pandemic due to the virus ,which currently bringing alot more people here than usual.
Unlike other blueberry advertisements on gumtree, I would like to offer some basic information and advice, especially for those who are going through coffs harbour's blueberry winter season for the first time, to make sure there arent any sort of confusions from some misleading advertisements,
First of all, blueberry picking is significantly easier compared to other farm works, and it is hard to sweat and be exhausted for most of people in winter's low temperature. You will be wearing a belt that holds multiple buckets on your waist and once all filled up, you will be handing them over to the truck on site and repeating it over for the rest of the day.
Blueberries are covered and surrounded by white powder which their qualities are judged by.Therefore picking them while moistured(rain/dew) will erase powders when touched, which will cause them to become soft ,leak, and possibly turn rest of other blueberries into a pile of rubbish.So, due to the nature of this job, your work days are highly depends on each day's weather.
At the beginning of the season (June) ,you must expect low amount of fruits ( 5~15kg per day)and uncertainty of work days due to the weather. Your earnings will be extremely minimal and for those are struggling financially will suffer paying living expenses. The season will continue and amount of berries will increase, so as your available work days.So From anytime in July, there are literally no accomodations available due to a high demand of people in overall of Coffs Harbour area.
You can expect a high season from sometime August until September.
Your salaries will be paid by piecerate (The more you pick the more you earn).
Your each week's salary would highly depend on individual's ability, that could be anywhere from $100 to $300 per day. (Expect somewhere around $150 on average picking speed. )

2. Your rates are $5 the highest ,and $3 the lowest per Kg during the season.
